Education is evolving, and so are we. Darden-Perry Academy is reshaping what inclusive, bilingual, and future-ready learning looks like. As a K–12 bilingual/bimodal school serving Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Exceptional Children, and hearing general education students, we are proudly stepping into a role that only one other school in the entire country occupies.
Yes — only one other K–12 bilingual/bimodal school exists in the United States.
Darden-Perry Academy will be the second in the nation, and the first in North Carolina.
This is more than a milestone.
It’s a movement.
⚖️ A Balanced 50/50 Enrollment Model
Our school is intentionally designed with a 50/50 balanced scale:
50% hearing general education students
50% Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Exceptional Children
This balance:
Promotes genuine inclusion
Builds deep communication skills
Strengthens cultural connections
Expands social-emotional learning
Ensures equitable opportunities for all students
We believe students learn best together, not separated.
💬 Why a Bilingual/Bimodal School?
Families and partners often ask:
“Why hasn’t this been done before?”
There is one pioneering K–12 bilingual/bimodal school in the United States, no one has brought this model to other states — especially not with:
Full K–12 access
Inclusive enrollment for hearing and DHH students
Exceptional Children support
Research-based literacy programs
ASL + spoken English instruction for all
Career and technical education woven through the curriculum
Darden-Perry Academy fills that gap — boldly and intentionally.
