Elementary (K–5): Foundations of Creativity

Students build early artistic skills through:

  • Drawing, painting, and color exploration

  • Clay modeling and simple ceramics

  • Creative movement and dramatic play

  • Music, rhythm, and expressive storytelling

  • Hands-on craft projects linked to culture and community

  • Visual journaling for emotional expression

The goal: develop curiosity, confidence, and foundational artistic techniques.

 

Middle School (6–8): Exploration & Skill Building

 

Students expand their artistic understanding through:

  • Pottery and wheel-thrown ceramics

  • Theatre and performance elements

  • Mixed media and sculpture

  • Digital art and photography

  • Character creation, scriptwriting, and creative storytelling

  • Collaborative art projects

The goal: strengthen technique and broaden artistic horizons.

High School (9–12): Pathways & Mastery

Students choose more advanced art experiences such as:

  • Studio Art: drawing, painting, sculpture, portfolio development

  • Performing Arts: acting, production, set design

  • Digital Arts: graphic design, animation, media arts

  • Ceramics: wheel, glaze, sculpture

  • Creative Writing & Spoken Word

  • Music & ASL-integrated performance

The goal: prepare students for college, careers, or lifelong artistic expression.

Our K–12 Art Program is built on four pillars:

Students learn to communicate their thoughts, emotions, culture, and identities through visual and performing arts.

2. Creativity & Innovation

Students take risks, think creatively, solve problems, and create original works that reflect their imagination.

3. Technical Skill Development

Students gain hands-on experience in multiple artistic mediums, expanding skill sets from year to year.

4. Cultural & Community Connection

Art celebrates diversity, amplifies student voice, and builds community through shared performances, showcases, and exhibitions.

Outcomes

 

By graduation, Darden-Perry Academy students will:
